Traditional Chinese Medicine

Your TCM treatment will be a combination of any of the following modalities that are key to a holistic, individualized treatment plan. You and your practitioner will create a plan for your treatment that includes the best modalities for you, in any given session.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture promotes natural healing and involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body along meridians. These points provide a communication network and directly affect the organs and processes in the body. It can enhance recuperative power and immunity, support physical and emotional health, and improve overall function and wellbeing.

Cupping: Cupping is a treatment technique using glass cups and heat to create a vacuum, creating a safe suction on the skin. It can increase circulation, warmth and stimulate Qi where it is stuck. Cupping is also great to release knots and toxins in the tissues, as well as move congestion in the lungs.

E-Stim: There may be times that your practitioner uses electricity with your acupuncture session. One cord is attached to two needles for the current to pass through, stimulating the points and channels consistently as you rest. This gentle, safe current creates more precision, effectiveness and organization to your treatment. The acupuncturists at Harmony Healing have had extra training in order to offer this advanced style, and are happy to explain more when used. It is used for a wide range of conditions, and is especially effective for pain, tension and inflammation.

Moxa: Moxabustion, a lesser known technique of Chinese Medicine, involves safely burning the mossy herb, moxa, on the skin or top of the needles. It is not used that often in our clinic, but can be great for adding warmth to the body or meridian, improve healing time from an injury, strengthen the blood, as well as increase libido and adrenal function.

Herbs: Chinese Herbs have been around as long as the other modalities, if not longer. They work by restoring the body’s function ad also to help release pathogenic invasions that can create things like allergies, cold/flu, infections, inflammation and chronic illness. They are used alone and also as an adjunct to acupuncture, offering great success with anxiety, insomnia, infertility, acne, digestive disorders, pain, depression and immune issues. There are also nearly no side effects compared to pharmaceutical medications. We carry Chinese herbs in pill form, as well as powder form, which can be customized for each patient.

Our pharmacy features freeze-dried herbal granules that can be combined for you into a custom formula on the premises. All of our products are GMP certified and have been tested for purity, species specificity, and chemical composition. These granules can be reconstituted into an herbal tea which is typically taken twice daily. The exact combination of herbs can be adjusted to suit your individual condition, and is likely to be altered as the treatment progresses to take into account changes that have occurred.

Lifestyle: While we are confident in our modalities, we are also passionate about educating our clients on how they can support their healing outside of the clinic. A true holistic lifestyle requires accountability and daily action to make good choices to support your health. We will make sure you understand mindfulness practices, what foods to avoid & include, herbal and supplement suggestions, stress management and anything else we feel might make treatments more effective. We believe that change is a process, not an event, and will empower you to participate in your ongoing wellness.
